Don Bosco College Tura organizes Quiz Programme on World Population Day
The Department of Economics and Department of Zoology of Don Bosco College, Tura, organized a day long program on 11th July, 2017, on the occasion of World Population day. The program was conceived of two parts: an Intra college Poster Competition and an Inter college Quiz Competition on the Theme of the World population Day, 2017 – FAMILY PLANNING: EMPOWERING PEOPLE, DEVELOPING NATIONS.
Students from all the streams took part in the poster competition. 3 (Three) best posters were awarded certificate of merit; all the posters were displayed on the college Lobby for creating awareness among the students. The teaching and the support staff also could see and enjoy those posters alike.
There was an inaugural function that started at 11.30 A.M with presentation of bouquet to the Quiz Master Shri Viswas Viswam K.C., Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tura. Welcome song was presented by the 5th semester students of Zoology department, followed by the Welcome Address of Prof. Siddhartha Roy from the department of Economics. Dr. Ajanta Deb, Convener of the program, also from department of Economics, delivered her speech on the theme of the World Population Day. Rev. Fr. George Plattotham, Rector and Director, also spoke on the occasion followed by the speech of Rev. Father Bivan R. Mukhim, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof, Tenang Marak, department of Zoology. The whole inaugural function was compeered by Prof. Rani Aruldass of Zoology department.
There was a short tea break after which immediately, Quiz competition started at around 1 P.M. This Part of the program was compeered by Dr. Biswajit Paul, who handed over the dais to Quiz Master Shri Viswas Viswam K C, who was a national Champion in Inter University Quiz Competition and also the senior editor of the Content of Malayalam version of Kaun Banega crorepati.
All the degree colleges of Tura sent 2 participants each, and the quiz competition was enjoyed by the teachers and students of the college alike. ICFAI , Tura bagged the first prize, followed by Home Science college, and the third prize was bagged by the host college, Don Bosco College, Tura.
Overall, it was a success as everyone enjoyed the well organized program, the well researched and well conducted quiz too.
