The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Don Bosco College, Tura, commenced its journey in the year 2006 with 100 volunteers and one Programme Officer. The basic philosophy of NSS is to give an extension dimension to education and to establish a meaningful linkage between the college and the community. Accordingly the Don Bosco College NSS Unit adopted Ranggira, an underdeveloped nearby village.
The NSS Unit carried out several welfare programmes including awareness on health and hygiene, elementary education, environment and the evils of alcoholism.
In the meantime, the strength of the NSS Volunteers has increased to 200 with two Programme Officers. The NSS Unit of the College continues to commit itself to reflect the essence of social service, participatory democracy, community welfare and selfless service to the society as a whole.
