Valedictory Ceremony of Certificate Course in A∙chik Folk Arts Held at Don Bosco College Tura

Don Bosco College, Tura, organized the Valedictory Ceremony of the ‘Certificate Course in A∙chik Folk Arts’ on 29 April 2025. The event featured a keynote presentation on the "Concept of Theater" by renowned scholar, writer, and Associate Professor, Dr Barbara S. Sangma.

In his address, the Principal emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and encouraged students to speak the Garo language fluently. Chief Guest Dr Rhinkle M. Marak highlighted the richness of A∙chik material culture, music, dance, and drama. He underscored the need for preservation and documentation, and motivated students to explore literary expressions across various genres.

Students of the Certificate Course showcased vibrant performances, including Wangala dance, folk songs, and instrumental displays featuring the flute, buffalo horn, chigring, and dotrong. Out of 86 enrolled students, 63 successfully completed the course and received their certificates.
