The “Reform 2024” was a consultative workshop organized by NAAC

The “Reform 2024” was a consultative workshop organized by NAAC for the North East Region in response to the recommendation of the Dr. Radhakrishnan Committee. Representatives from various Colleges and Universities of the region attended the workshop; the Don Bosco College was represented by the Principal Rev. Fr. Januarius S Sangma, SDB and

Dr. Yubaraj Sharma, member IQAC.

The primary purpose of the workshop was to elicit feedback on the proposed reforms from

stakeholder like the Colleges and Universities and engage with Higher Education

Departments/Councils of various states to apprise them of planned changes.

The detailed programme schedule is attached at the end of this report. The key takeaways

from the Workshop are enumerated below:

  • The Executive Committee of NAAC proposed launching reforms in two phases “Binary
  • Accreditation” and “Maturity Based Graded Levels” from the current 8 point graded
  • system.
  • The “Binary Accreditation,” is aimed to streamline the accreditation process and to
  • make it easy for Colleges and Universities to get on board. Additional reforms, like the
  • scraping of NAAC peer team visit and reduction of fees are also in the proposal.
  • The second phase is the “Maturity Based Graded Levels”, which is to encourage
  • accredited institutions to raise their bar to achieve the highest level/grading of
  • “Institutions of Global Excellence for Multi-Disciplinary Research and Education.”
  • Major changes in the data collection is proposed: to use a single platform “One Nation
  • One Data Platform” for storage and retrieval of data for the purposes of approval,
  • accreditation and scoring/ranking.
  • To migrate from the current 7 criteria to 10 Attributes (under 3 categories: input, processand outcome) for assessment. The “Reform 2024” workshop facilitated dialogue and clarified doubts during the panel
  • discussion session. Many of the colleges and Universities had doubts and concerns that were

similar to ours and it was quite educational to hear the informed discussion on those points.

We came away with much satisfaction and a feeling of having enriched our understanding of

    the NAAC accreditation process.
