In a bid to put into action one of the Five Year Plans envisioned by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, of the College, namely ‘Cultural Exchange Between India and Bangladesh’, the College accepted the invitation sent by the Organizers of the “Mandi Music Festival”, Mymensingh, Bangladesh on 13th and 14th April, 2024.
Accordingly three teachers and five students were identified to take part in the said “Mandi Music Festival”. However, eventually only two teachers, namely Dr. Barbara S. Sangma and Dr. Colnat B. Marak could attend the festival as others did not get their Passports/visas on time.
The Professor representatives of Don Bosco College participated in the festival and got to experience a number of cultural activities and participated in a Panel Discussion on Garo Folk Music. During their stay they were invited by a number of families and experienced the love and hospitality of Mandis (Garos) in Bangladesh. On 15th April, they were taken to see Modhupur, a typical Mandi village where Garo traditional way of life is still being followed up to a certain extent.
Don Bosco College, Tura would like to express deepest gratitude to the organizers of Mandi Music Festival at Mymensingh, Bangladesh. It is hoped that this is only the first of many cultural exchange programmes to come.
