Regional Workshop on Traditional Musical Instruments and Performing Arts Concludes.
The Department of Garo, Don Bosco College, Tura, in collaboration with the A∙chik Literature Society and the Department of Garo at NEHU Tura Campus, organized a five-day 'Regional Workshop on Traditional Musical Instruments and Performing Arts' at NEHU Tura Campus, Tura.
The workshop, inaugurated by Dr. Jacqueline R. Marak, Head of the Department of Garo at NEHU Tura Campus, on 18th March, took place at the University premises and concluded on 22nd March 2024. With over 76 enthusiastic participants registered, the workshop focused on the craftsmanship and performance of traditional Garo musical instruments such as dama (drum), flutes, and chigring. Additionally, participants delved into the intricate artistry of the Wangala dance and Grika dance, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Garo community.
A notable presence of students from the College added vibrancy to the training program, emphasizing the significance of preserving and promoting traditional art forms and musical heritage in the region.
