Seminar by the Department of English

The Department of English, Don Bosco College, Tura, held its annual Seminar on 21st of November, 2023. Sr. (Dr) Lucy R Marak, the HOD welcomed the gathering particularly the paper presenters – the 5th semester students. In her welcome note she stated that the presentation will be on the major poets of the Romantic Movement in English on the 18th century and on the important works of fiction of the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. And conveyed all good wishes for their presentation.

The students of the 1st semester set the programme to a meaningful beginning with a special number “Together we can change the world.” This was followed by a poem recitation of William Ernest Henley “Invictus” by a 3rd Semester student Chakram N Sangma.

The principal, Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB in his speech,stressed on the importance of Reading and exhorted the students to make Reading a habit. He also urged them to seize all the opportunities such as the Seminars, Elocutions that are at their disposal to develop their innate talents. He also stated that students of English are preferred at job selections.

The programme was systematically anchored by Prof. Cherimchi M Sangma. Prof Riprey R Sangma, proposed the vote of thanks, during which she congratulated all the paper presenters and thanked gratuitously all the students for their presentation.
