Virtual Financial Literacy Workshop Empowers Students.
In a bid to promote financial awareness among students, a virtual session and workshop titled "Financial Literacy Mission" was conducted on the 13th of October 2023 at the Bosco Hall, DBC Tura. The event was organized by WX Consultants Private Limited, in collaboration with the Central Depository Service (India) Limited, aimed specifically at the students of B.com III and V Semester of DBC, Tura.
The session was led by SEBI resource person Mrs. Gauri Geet, a distinguished faculty member from WX Consultants Pvt. Limited. It was explicitly designed to impart knowledge and raise awareness about financial matters, without any commercial agenda promoting financial products.
The workshop covered a wide range of topics essential for financial literacy:
• Need for Savings.
• Financial Planning & Investment opportunities.
• Choosing the right investment opportunity.
• Mutual Fund.
• Investor protection and Grievance Redressal Mechanism.
• Awareness on Capital Market.
• Benefits of D-Mat Account.
• KYC Compliance.
A total of 50 participants, including students from B.com III & V Semester and faculty members Mr. Mridul Chanda and Mr. Namsang K. Marak from the Department of Commerce at Don Bosco College, Tura, attended the event.
Mrs. Geet commenced the session by highlighting the critical importance of financial education, emphasizing how money management skills are indispensable at every stage of life. She elaborated on the principles of Personal Money Management and recommended resources to enhance understanding of mutual fund operations.
The interactive segment saw students actively engaging with the speaker, seeking clarifications on investments and realizing the significance of prudent financial management. The participants' questions were met with comprehensive responses, fostering a two-way communication.
Notable questions raised by students included inquiries about IPOs versus existing shares, exploring the commodity market for higher returns, and concerns about the safety of investment platforms, including mobile trading apps.
The session concluded with heartfelt thanks from the host, WX Consultants Pvt. Limited, extending gratitude towards the Principal of the college, Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, and faculty member Mr. Namsang K. Marak for their pivotal roles in making the seminar a success. Special recognition was also given to Asst. Prof. Mr. Mridul Chanda and the college technical team for their valuable contributions.
