Political Science Students Engage with Meghalaya Assembly Session.
In a unique educational initiative, the fifth semester Political Science Honours students, along with their professors, embarked on a field trip to the Meghalaya Assembly Session held on September 19, 2023. The endeavor provided students with an invaluable opportunity to witness the legislative process firsthand and engage with key figures in the state's political landscape.
Led by their teachers, the students were welcomed to the hallowed halls of the Meghalaya Assembly. This encounter offered a rare glimpse into the workings of assembly proceedings, allowing the students to gain a deeper understanding of the democratic machinery at play.
During their meeting with the Speaker Shri Thomas A Sangma, the students had the privilege of engaging in a candid conversation about the legislative process, the nuances of policy-making, and the challenges faced by lawmakers in the state. The exchange of ideas and perspectives proved to be an enriching experience for both the students and the speaker, who lauded the initiative as a commendable step towards fostering civic awareness and engagement among the youth.
Following their interaction with the Speaker, the students also had the opportunity to meet with various officials of the Meghalaya Assembly.
