College Strengthens Collaboration Between Faculty and Parents during Parents' Meet 2023.
The Parents' Meet 2023 brought together educators, students, and parents in a day of insightful discussions and engaging presentations. The event, aimed at fostering collaboration between the college and the families of third-semester Bachelor of Arts students, was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee. The programme was held in the DBCTE Hall.
The day's proceedings commenced with a solemn prayer led by Dr. Meuller Beul M. Sangma, setting the tone for the day of meaningful interactions. Mr. Habul Das, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Assistant Coordinator of the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in nurturing student growth.
Dr. Meuller Beul M. Sangma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and IQAC Criteria Coordinator, engaged the parents in an informative discussion centered around Quality Assurance and NAAC accreditation. Her presentation shed light on the college's commitment to maintaining high standards of education and the various measures taken to ensure academic excellence.
One of the highlights of the event was the compelling Motivational Talk on Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention, by Ms. Narbecca G. Momin, a Clinical Psychologist from DMHP, Tura Civil Hospital. Her insightful presentation addressed the crucial issue of substance abuse among youth, equipping parents with valuable knowledge to help safeguard their children's well-being.
The College's various departments took the spotlight as esteemed faculty members presented engaging insights into their respective disciplines. Dr. Sanggra A. Sangma, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of History, Sir Ksanbor Kharkongor, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Geography, Dr. Uma Roy Bhowmik, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Education, and Ms. Frianky M. Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy (Shift I), shared their expertise, highlighting the college's commitment to holistic education.
Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, the Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura, graced the event with his presence and provided valuable insights into the college's mission. He introduced the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUG), aligning it with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 as discussed by the affiliating university, NEHU.
The Parents' Meet offered parents a vital platform to express their thoughts, concerns, and ideas. The event was skillfully hosted by Ms. Frianky M. Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy, who created a warm and inclusive atmosphere for meaningful discussions. Mr. Jakrimra R. Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of English (Shift I), concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those involved in organizing this enriching event.
