Salesian Provincial Fr Januarius S. Sangma Addresses Students, Encourages Holistic Education
The Salesian Provincial of Guwahati, Rev Fr Januarius S Sangma, addressed the morning assembly on Friday 04th August 2023, inspiring and motivating the students to embrace education as a means of personal growth and societal transformation.
In his address, Fr Januarius emphasized that education is not merely about securing high grades or landing a job but is, in fact, a journey of becoming a better human being. He encouraged the students to imbibe values, compassion, and empathy that will enable them to contribute positively to the community and bring about meaningful change in society.
"Your education should go beyond textbooks and exams," Fr Januarius said. "It should be a process of self-discovery, where you develop a strong character and a sense of responsibility towards others."
The Provincial urged the students to have long-term plans for their lives. He used an analogy to illustrate his point: "If you have plans for a year, plant paddy and if you have plans for ten years, plant rubber or teak tree, but if you have plans for life, build your character."
He expressed his gratitude to the Principal, Vice Principal, and all the faculty members for their dedicated service to the morning shift students. He emphasized that the morning shift students are in no way inferior to the day shift students and, in fact, have unique advantages.
"In fact, the students of the morning shift have a better opportunity, as they can take up jobs after their classes," Fr Januarius added, encouraging the students to leverage this advantage to enhance their skills and experiences.
The Principal and the students warmly welcomed Fr Januarius S Sangma, presenting him with a traditional Garo muffler and a bouquet of flowers as a token of their appreciation for his presence and guidance.
