Inauguration of Academic Session 2023: A Promising Start to a New Journey

The inauguration of the Academic Session 2023-24 at Don Bosco College, Tura was held with great enthusiasm on the college premises. The ceremony took place in the College Amphitheatre, where students, faculty, and esteemed guests came together to mark the beginning of a new academic year.

 

The event commenced on an auspicious note with a captivating Prayer Dance performance by the talented students, setting the stage for an inspiring and vibrant ceremony. The lighting of the lamp, a symbol of knowledge and wisdom, was a solemn moment, followed by the felicitation of the distinguished guests.

 

Addressing the gathering, the College's Principal, Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and presented a comprehensive report of the Academic Session 2022-2023. The progress and achievements of the College during the last academic year were highlighted, showcasing the institution's commitment to academic excellence and holistic development of students.

 

One of the significant highlights of the event was the presentation on the College's status with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) by Dr Barbara S Sangma, Associate Professor and IQAC Coordinator. She shared that the college is gearing up for the NAAC Second cycle evaluation scheduled for August – September. This reaffirms the College's dedication to maintaining and enhancing its academic standards and quality of education.

 

Gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour, Prof Sujata Gurudev, Campus in-charge of NEHU Tura Campus, delivered an empowering speech to motivate the students to excel in their studies and embrace all the opportunities that come their way. Her words of encouragement and guidance inspired the young minds to strive for greatness.

 

The Chief Guest, Shri Jagadish Chelani, IAS, Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Tura, addressed the gathering with a compelling speech. He urged the students to make the most of their college days and leverage the platform to nurture their talents and skills. His words resonated deeply with the students, instilling a sense of responsibility and purpose as they embark on their educational journey.

 

During the programme, the College took a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of the “Best Students of the Academic Session 2022-23”. A total of 55 students were felicitated with mementos and certificates, recognizing their dedication and hard work.

 

The inaugural programme witnessed the release of the College Handbook, a valuable resource that provides comprehensive information about the college's academic programs, facilities, and guidelines.

 

Adding a cultural touch to the event, the students of the Commerce department presented a melodious song that resonated with the audience. The College Choir group filled the atmosphere with pride as they sang the College Anthem, signifying unity and camaraderie. The ceremony concluded with the heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem, invoking a sense of patriotism among the attendees.
