Sociology Department Organizes Visit to Freedom Life Centre Orphanage
In an effort to engage in social activities and make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children, the Sociology Department of Don Bosco College in Tura organized a visit to the Freedom Life Centre in Sanchongre. On Saturday, May 13, 2023, the 6th semester Sociology honours students, accompanied by their teachers, embarked on a journey to the orphanage, providing a unique and fulfilling experience for all involved.
A total of Thirty Seven, 6th semester students and 3 teachers volunteered for the event. The group set off from the college at 1:15 PM and arrived at the orphanage by 2:15 PM. The student volunteers eagerly interacted with the children, spreading joy and kindness by distributing stationery items, snacks, and juice.
The welcoming atmosphere created by the children at the orphanage made the visit truly unforgettable for the students. Despite facing numerous challenges, the warm reception from the children touched the hearts of the students, leaving a lasting impression. The noble cause of bringing smiles and happiness to the children in the orphanage not only brought peace and joy to the students but also instilled a sense of fulfillment and empathy within them.
The children at the orphanage were deeply moved by the short program organized by the students. The students entertained the children by performing a song with actions and engaging them in various games, creating a lively and cheerful environment. Through their interactions, the students made the children feel valued and cherished, fostering a sense of belonging within society.
Spending quality time with the children in the orphanage proved to be an invaluable experience for the students. It awakened a newfound empathy and compassion within them, making them more aware of the challenges faced by the underprivileged and the needy. Inspired by this visit, the students pledged to contribute to similar worthy causes in the future, ensuring they make a positive impact as they grow older.
