Department of Geography organises Department Seminar

 

The Department of Geography organized a one day students’ Departmental Seminar on the theme, ‘Depleting Resources and Ever Growing Population’ on 4th May, 2023. The seminar took place in Bosco Hall at 1:15 pm and was attended by the 2nd, 4th and 6th semester’s students of Geography, as well as the faculty members from the Department of Geography and other departments. The aim of the seminar was to instill self belief, confidence and to develop team spirit amongst the students. The 6th semester students were divided into 5 groups and presented the following sub themes:

1. Overpopulation and its Impact on Natural Resources by Geolaska

2. Problems of Food Security of The World by Everest

3. Overfishing and its Consequences by The Giant Sequoia.

4. Sustainable Development Goals by The Aurora Lights.

5. Challenges and Achievements of Sustainability in India by The Jetstreams.

After the presentation, there was a question and answer session.

Mr. Ksanbor Kharkongor, Assistant Professor and Head of Department, Geography welcomed the gathering and spoke on the theme, in his speech he also emphasized on the importance of the seminar.

 

The Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim spoke on the issues and challenges of Overpopulation and Resource Depletion; he further stressed on the importance of participating in such seminars and encouraged the students to grab such opportunities.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Miss Walchi G Momin. She appreciated the Principal for giving such opportunities and also thanked the students for their efforts and patience.
