Dept. of Commerce observes World Consumer Rights Day
As part of the observation of World Consumer Rights Day 2023, the Department of Commerce on 15th March 2023 organized a Webinar on the topic Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) by the Security Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Mumbai.
The programme was attended by all the staff and the students of the Department of Commerce.
The resource person of the webinar spoke and enlightened the students on important issue of investment and stock market. She highlighted the need to invest in the stock market. Other topics discussed at the webinar included equity derivatives, Government securities, securities lending and borrowing, mutual funds and interest rate futures.
The inaugural programme was attended by Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal, Fr John Paul Tirkey, Vice Principal, Dr Barbara S Sangma, IQAC Coordinator, Dr Sabindra Barman, Head Department of Commerce, the faculty members of commerce and the students of the second, fourth and sixth semesters.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and the reading from the Holy Scripture. Later the Principal, Fr Bivan Mukhim spoke on the importance of consumer rights and forum given to every consumer while Dr Barbara S Sangma spoke on the need to be conscious of our consumer rights and create awareness among the ignorant masses.
Dr Sabindra Barman, head of the department enlightened the students on the theme of this year’s World Consumer Rights Day "Empowering Consumers Through Clean Energy Transitions."
The students of the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters presented papers.
