Department of Mathematics organizes Seminar

A One day programme on Celebration of the Departmental Seminar has been conducted on 4th March, 2023, at Don Bosco College, Tura in order to spread interest of Mathematics among the students. The event was an initiative by the students of the department of Mathematics, Co-ordinated by Prof. Habul Chandra Das, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics and the principal, Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, SDB monitored the entire process as Chief Patron.

A total of 150 (approx.) students and almost all the faculty members from all the departments of Physical Science Stream attended the programme.

On the inaugural session, Arron Babra R. Marak and Chaname M. Sangma (4thSem Maths Hons B.Sc. Students), had welcomed the guests. Principal, Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, SDB in his speech appreciated the department for organising such an august event and motivated the other departments too to organise such programmes in future.

Prof. Anil Kumar, HoD, Department of Mathematics, spoke about the effort made by the students of the department.

Prof.(Dr.) Barbara S. Sangma, IQAC Coordinator, motivated the gathering.

Prof. Habul Chandra Das, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, had emphasized on the need of organising such departmental Seminars to

(i) Encourage Communication

(ii) Exchange of ideas

(iii) Find out the ways for others

(iv) Create Chances

The inaugural session was followed by a technical session where 6th Semester Mathematics Honours Students participated in Seminar Presentations. All the students of 6th semester were divided into 5 groups with 5 different themes.
