A Study Tour to North Sikkim by Geography Honours
A Study Tour to North Sikkim was organized by the Department of Geography headed by Head of Department and Assistant Professor Jason Jyrwa & Assistant Professor Ksanbor Kharkongor on the 16th to the 23rd of January 2023. A total of 26 students were accompanied by 4 teachers from the Geography and Philosophy Department. The Students and teachers left from Tura at 8pm on the 16th of January 2023 and reached Gangtok, Sikkim at 1pm on the 17th of January 2023.
On the first day, the students were taken to MG Marg and they visited various markets around Gangtok. On the 2nd day, the students and teachers travelled to Lachen, North Sikkim. On the 3rd day students and teachers visited Kalapathar and Gurudongmar Lake and on the same day they visited Lachung, North Sikkim. On the 4th day the group visited Yumthang valley and Zero point and on the same day they travelled back to Gangtok.
On the 5th and last day, the students and teachers visited 8 tourist spots around Gangtok which includes Tashi view point, Bhakthang falls, Banjankri falls, Gonjanag Monastery, Chorten Dudrul, Tibetology, Sikkim Zoo and Gangtok Rope way. The Students returned from Gangtok at 10am on the 22nd of January 2023 and reached Tura at 5am on the 23rd of January 2023
