BOSCOANS WEEK 2022: 21st to 29th October 2022
Don Bosco College, Tura held a College Week under the title “BOSCOANS WEEK 2022” from 21st to 29th October 2022. The motto of the week-long events was “Participate and Grow”. The week’s activities were overseen by the Sports and Games Committee led by Mr. Nicholas M. Sangma and supported by Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College. The various events/competitions that were organized are Slogan writing, Poetry, Essay, painting, Debate, Speech, Quiz, Fancy Dress, Fashion Parade, Floral Arrangement, Rangoli, Painting, Track and Field events, outdoor events like Basketball, Volleyball, etc., outdoor events like Chess, Carrom, etc., and indigenous events like Wa∙pong Sika, An∙ding Oka and Arm Wrestling.
The College week was held from 2st to 29th October with three days of Holidays in between excluding Sunday (22nd- MPSC Exam, 23rd- Diwali, 24th- Captain William’s Death Anniversary/Storm).
The Boscoans Week began with the Inaugural Function where Mr. Dolrich B. G. Momin (Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills) was the Chief Guest. The Inaugural Function include 1. UNFURLING OF BOSCOANS WEEK 2022- FLAG by the Chief Guest and Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal, LIGHTING OF BOSCOANS WEEK 2022 CAULDRON by Aquisha and Ebenezer, an OPENING SONG “I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter/ Dancing through the fire….” that set the tone for the College Week events. This was followed by Welcome SPEECH by Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim, PRINCIPAL, SPEECH by the CHIEF GUEST
Thereafter, the students took the following PLEDGE
“I, A STUDENT OF DON BOSCO COLLEGE, PLEDGE THAT I SHALL TAKE PART IN THE COLLEGE WEEK EVENTS WHOLE HEARTEDLY AND WITH A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY. I SHALL UPHOLD T HE THEME “PARTICIPATE AND GROW” AND HELP OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. I SHALL BE CONSIDERATE TOWARDS ALL AND STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE IN ALL MY ENDEAVOURS DURING THE “BOSCOANS WEEK-2022” AND IN THE DAYS TO COME; ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, the SOCIETY AND MY COLLEGE.
This was followed by PRAYER DANCE and VOTE OF THANKS was proposed by Ms. Cherimchi T. Sangma and the Inaugural Ceremony ended with everyone singing the National Anthem.
The College Week came to an end with a colourful Concluding Ceremony. The Programme consists of 1. Lighting of Lamps, 2.Opening Song: College Choir, 3. Felicitation of Guests: MC 4. Welcome Speech: Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, IQAC Coordinator, 5. Song: Rikkimbirth M. Sangma, 5th Sem. Economics, White House; Winner of Boscoans Week- 2022 Singing Competition, 6. Speech: Rev. Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim, Principal, 7. Prize Distribution: Academics- Principal, 8. Group Dance: Orange House, Winner of the Boscoans Week Dance Competition, 9. Prize Distribution: Cultural (Dr. Uma), 10. Solo Song: Canny Thursday S. Momin, 3rd Semester-Economics Honours (Indigo House), 11. Speech: Guest of Honour- Rev. Fr. Mackley Gomes, Rector, Bosco Mount, 11. Prize Distribution (Indoor Games): Rev. Fr. Mackley Gomes Group Song: Best of College Week, 12. Group Song: Winner of the Boscoans Week- Singing Competition, 13. Prize Distribution (Outdoor Games): Dr. Biswajit Paul, 14. Wangala Dance, 15. Speech: Chief Guest, Shri Bruno A. Sangma, Commandant, 2nd MLP Battalion, Goeragre, 16. Prize Distribution (Track and Field) : Chief Guest, 17. Declarations by the Principal of the Best Athlete Female and Male, most outstanding participants in Academics and Cultural Events (female and male), Best House, Second Best House and giving away the trophies by the Chief Guest
This was followed by Stowing of the House Flags by the House Captains and Vice Captains and the Boscoans Week Flag by the NCC. The Chief Guest declared the Boscoans Week CLOSED. )
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Nicholas M. Sangma
National Anthem was led by the College Choir.
