Soft Skill and Personality Development held for Final Year Students

Soft Skill and Personality Program was organised by Student’s Support and Progression Committee On the 21st September 2022 from 2:00 pm, for the 5th semester students of Arts, Commerce and Science at Bosco Hall.

The program was hosted by Henry Shera N Sangma, student of 5th semester sociology department. The seminar started with welcome song by the 5th semester sociology honours students, which was followed by a welcome speech by Chiesa Walatchi Sangma.

Introductory speech by Fr. Principal Bivan Rodriques Mukhim was delivered in which he stressed about the importance of soft skills and how it could benefit the students.

A short speech was delivered by IQAC Co-ordinator Dr. Barbara Sangma where she discussed about the importance of both hard and soft skills.

The resource person for the session was Rev. Fr. Mackley Gomes. He began his session with a quote, “if you want a man to eat, you would give him fish but if you want him to eat each day then you will teach him to fish.” He discussed about the psycho-spiritual aspect of the soft skill development. He suggested daily meditation, Vipassana and breathing exercises could develop coping mechanism to deal with stress. An action song was performed during the session to show the stress relieving capacity of exercise. He also screened a video drama named “story of egg and carrot and coffee beans” to portray the ways to control stress by the help of soft skill. He referred a book called “Focus”.  He quoted few lines from the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling suggesting that we should stay intact both in the situation of triumph or tragedy through the development of soft skills.

There was a question and answer session. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Sanjay Xalxo 5th semester sociology department.
