A REPORT ON WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY ON 10TH SEPTEMBER 2022
Don Bosco College, Tura observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September 2022. Miss Narbecca G. Momin, a Psychologist, Tura Civil Hospital, Tura spoke on the theme for this year, “Creating Hope through Action”. She said that Mental Health means mentally healthy where an individual understands own strengths and weaknesses and are able to cope up with the stress in day to day life.
She further said that an individual is emotionally disturbed or psychologically stressed when he/she is unable to take decision continuously.
She spoke on the signs and symptoms of Mental Health and informed the students that Suicide is a risk. “We seek help but nobody recognises and so we are left out and isolated. We should always understand that somebody’s life is in your hand and my hand. I will not take my life but take positively”, said Miss Narbecca.
A large number of students attended the program. The session ended with words of gratitude shared by Dr Meuller B M Sangma. Hence the National Mental Health Program on World Suicide Prevention Day was successfully conducted.
