NSS Celebrates Iconic Week – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
Celebrating Iconic Week as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Don Bosco College,Tura organized various programme from the 8th to 13th of August 2022. The programme was coordinated by the Programme Officer Shri Biman Tesil Sangma along with the department of Geography, Don Bosco College, Tura.
Some of the programme and activities are: Har Ghar Tiranga, Biographical Sketch of Unsung Heroes of freedom fighters, Freedom Run, Swacchhta Pakhwada, Plantation Drive and Catch the Rain programmes.
The Swacchhta programme includes Cleaning of the classrooms on 10th August 2022, cleaning of the College Campus on 11th August 2022, cleaning of the locality on 12th August 2022.
But among these programmes, the culmination one is the procession and Cleaning of Iconic Places- William Point by the NSS Volunteers of the college on 13th August 2022 at 01:00 PM.
The procession was supported by the District Administration and the Meghalaya Police, Chandmari Police Station.
While flagging off the procession, the Principal Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim said that the purpose of the procession is to instill a sense of patriotism in the minds of the residence of Tura. He said that slogan like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ should be chanted by the volunteers. He also said that the volunteers should also distribute the Indian Flag to the residence as well as the shopkeepers as part of the Har Ghar ki Tiranga campaign.
Inspite of the rain and the inclement weather, the NSS Volunteers enthusiastically walk in procession and chanted slogan. Later the NSS Volunteers cleaned the garbage in and around William Point at Tura.
