DBC organises workshop on Interview Skills

The final year students of Don Bosco College, Tura on 11th May 2022 attended a one day programme on interview skills. The programme was organised keeping in mind the need to prepare students to face interviews. Shri Beryl B. Sangma, Former Director of the Indian Institute of Bank Management was the resource person. The programme was held in two groups so that all the students benefit from the programme.

In his session, the resource person said that ‘interview is not just an interview but also an outer-view’. So a person should give his/her best in the interview. He demonstrated the techniques of interview which help the students to easily grasp the ways in which an interview is to be done.

He encouraged the students not to get nervous while facing interviews and said that one of the ways to get rid of it is to be comfortable and use the energy for a purpose that will help the candidate to adjust the ambient and the surrounding of the interview venue.

He added that the best way to impress the interview panel is by dressing well. He taught the students the way they should dress while going for an interview. “Boys should always wear necktie and girls should wear dakmanda while facing interview,” the resource person said.

Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal welcomed the resource person and the students. He reminded the students the need to organise the workshop and said that the training they received during their college day will hold them in good stead as they move forward in their studies. He said that facing interviews will be part and parcel of the lives of the students. He added that whether the students apply for higher studies or jobs, no one can escape interviews. Preparing them to face interview, therefore, is the responsibility of the college.

The Principal took the opportunity to wish the final year students the best as they leave the college to seek admission for their Masters’ programme and job opportunities.

The workshop was coordinated by Shri Sangra A. Sangma, Head of the Department of History, Don Bosco College, Tura along with the staff of the Department of Environment.
