College Week Concludes with Pre-Christmas Get-Together

 

Don Bosco College concluded its week long college week programme on 17th December 2021.The Valedictory ceremony of the college week, along with the Pre-Christmas celebration was conducted at college amphitheatre. The programme was opened with a melodious song performed by the winners of the group singing competition. The opening song was followed by first prize distribution ceremony to the winners of the indoor games competition. The prizes were distributed by the Guest of Honor to the winners of the various indoor games competition.

The programme continued with Cecilia performing Christmas song for the Pre-Christmas celebration. Prize distribution continued for second time,trophies and certificates were given away by the Principal to the winners in academic category. This was followed by first semester students performing the Christmas carol. The third round of prize distribution was continued.The trophies and certificates were handed over to the winners of cultural category competition. Thereafter, Blue house, the winner, of the best dance group displayed their entertaining performance.

 The fourth and the final round of prize distribution ceremony was followed soon after. Trophies and certificateswere rewarded to the winners of the outdoor games competition. The rewards were handed over to the winners by Madam Ipshita Roy Bose, Fr Louis and Sir Nicholas M Sangma respectively. Rev. Fr.Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal of the College extended his warm words of welcome to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor of the programme. He also greeted the Vice Principal and Administrator of the college along with faculties and the students with his welcoming words. In his welcome speech he also thanked the sports and the cultural committee of the college. He also applauded the students for their dedication and enthusiasm in the college week.

The Chief Guest of the programme Mr. Dharmananda Banai, Assistant General Manager, SBI,Tura along with the Guest of Honor Mr. Ajaipal Singh Somvanshi, Principal, National Skill Training Institute Tura, were welcomed with traditional A.chik Pandra, potted plant and a memento as a token of appreciation and gratitude. Further in the programme, Christmas carols were sung by carol singers.The Guest of Honor spoke and lauded the college as one of the oldest prestigious college in Garo Hills. In his speech he encouraged the students and applauded them for participating and winning in college week competitions. He also consoled the non- winners not to loose heart and to continue participating.

Sir Nicholas M Sangma, HOD Dept of Garo, announced the best participants of the college week.The Principal did the honor of declaring the best house of the  college week. The trophies for the champion house as well as to the runner up house were handed over by the Chief Guest. Time was given to Fr. Dr. Avilash V.J, Vice Principal, of the college to deliver his Christmas message on the eve of Pre-Christmas. He mentioned that Christmas is about fraternity among nations, culture and different religion. His Christmas message was to spread love to each other. Likewise, Madam Ipshita Roy Bose, HOD, Dept. of Political Science, also shared her Christmas message. Her message was, Christmas is not just a festival, but a season, season of joy, season of charity and season of  forgiveness.The SWA President, NCC Cadets, Captains and the Vsice Captains of various houses then assembled together and took their respective positions for stowing of the college week flag.This was followed by dance performance by the college students.

The Chief Guest, Mr Dharmananda Banai an alumnus of the college took the stage to deliver his speech. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Banai stressed on his personal experience in the college during the college week. In his speech he also thanked his teachers from Don Bosco College and considered them to be the best teachers he had come across in his life. He urged the students to have faith on their teachers and the college for making their dreams come true and to never give up on their dreams. Later, the Chief Guest declared the Boscoan college week as closed. The College Week flag and the flags of the various houses were lowered and the College Week flag was folded by the house captains and handed over to the Principal by the SWA president. The programme ended with Shri Jason Jyrwa, Asst Prof, delivering the vote of thanks.
