DBC celebrates NCC Day by Donating Blood

The NCC Cadets of Don Bosco College, Tura along with Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme, Don Bosco College Tura on Saturday observed NCC Day by donating blood. The programme was held in collaboration with the Blood Bank, Tura. Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Shri Ram Singh IAS was the Chief Guest at the inaugural programme.

In his speech, Ram Singh IAS encourages the cadets to be of service to the society and the college. He said that NCC is expanding in Meghalaya and in particular in the border areas. He said that the expansion is a positive move towards extending NCC to all the schools and colleges of Garo Hills.

He also informed the cadets on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the flagship programme of the Central Government to make India a drug-free. He implored the cadets to be examples to other students and people they meet everyday.

He appreciated the initiative of Don Bosco College, Tura to include many programmes that will improve not only the curricular but the co-curricular activities of the students.

Dr S. K. Marak, in-charge Blood Bank, West Garo Hills, Tura spoke on the needs to donate blood and save lives. She shared with the cadets the need to regularly donate and be a blood donor. She thanks Don Bosco College, Tura for arranging the blood donation camp. She informed that Don Bosco College and Blood Bank Tura can work in collaboration for regular camps.

The NCC Cadets presented a welcome song and Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim, Principal welcomed the honorable Deputy Commissioner and other guests. Others who spoke were CTOs Mr. Bravewell Mawthoh and Ms. Cherimchi T. Sangma. Over 30 NCC cadets donated blood on this day. The programme began with the singing of the National Anthem.
