As part of "India at 75", Meghalaya State Aids Control Society

As part of "India at 75", Meghalaya State Aids Control Society in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club,  Don Bosco College, Tura organized a Zonal Level Quiz  competition on 7th October 2021.

The Quiz Prigramme started with an impressive inaugural ceremony presided over by Dr. Meuller Beul M. Sangma.    Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim gave the welcome speech and expressed his great joy in being able to conduct a Quiz programme on HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Dr. Ivonne M. Sangma, District Maternity and Child Health Officer who was the chief guest  spoke about lack of awareness regarding blood donation. She urged all those present to spread the message that people must come forward to donate blood and help those in dire need. She also said that HIV/AIDS is a social issue and only awareness can help reduce the number of people succumbing to this disease. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Bandi K. Sangma, a Respiratory Diseases Specialist said that Tuberculosis is endemic which can become pandemic if great care us not invedted for its prevention . Stating that TB is a social disease, he informed that it is also closely related to HIV/AIDS. Shri Alok Lanong, Assistant Director, Meghalaya State Aids Control Society, Shillong spoke about the purpose of conducting such a programme. He also announced that the winners and the runner up will be eligible to compete at a state level RedRibbon Club Quiz Competition. Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, Head, Department of English, Don Bosco College and  Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club spoke about Red Ribbon Club. She stressed that blood donation is an act of kindness.

The Quiz was conducted by Miss Rebecca Lalrinmuani Kingbawl, Language Instructor under NAHEP- IDP, College of Community Science,   Tura. The participants from Don Bosco College and Mendipathar College bagged the first and second prizes respectively and will participate in the State level Quiz competition.
