Don Bosco College observes Rashtriya Ekta Divas

Don Bosco College, Tura joined with the rest of the country to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October 2019 with a ‘Unity Run’ at 5:15 am. The Unity Run was flagged off by Rev Fr Zachary Varickasseril, Principal Don Bosco College of Teacher Education, Tura. Over two hundred students and seven teachers joined in the run.

The run started from Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section via Chandmari, Ringre, Hawakhana, Tetengkol and back to the Higher Secondary Section. It covers distance of over seven kilometers.

While flagging of the programme Fr. Zachary spoke of the need to create awareness on unity and how inspite of our differences, we can still create a sense of belongingness to Mother India. He said that we need to imbibe the spirit of Sardar Vallabhai Patel who united the whole country into one through his magnanimity and vision.

Principal of the college, Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim who joined in the run wished the students luck at the beginning and said that the Unity Run should strengthen the bond of unity among students of the college. He also said that India is a land of diversity with different languages, cultures, habits and traditions. He said that preserving the uniqueness of the country is the responsibility of every citizen of the country, especially, the young students. He thanked the professors who organised the programme. He informed that every participant will receive a certificate to remember the day.

Professor Siddhartha Roy and Prof Ipshita Bose Roy coordinated the Unity Run. The participants were served snacks.

Later during the day, the students took the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge and sang the National Anthem as a pledge for unity.
