DBC celebrates 72nd Independence Day

The management and students of Don Bosco College exhibited their patriotism by taking part in the Flag Hoisting programme organized to observe the 72nd Independence Day of the Country on 15 August. The flag was unfurled at 7:00 am by Fr. Louis Arimboor, Administrator in the presence of the Principal and the students. The college NCC and NSS volunteers too joined in the flag hoisting programme.

In his message on Independence Day the Principal highlighted the strength that the country has. He said that the country needed people like the NCC and the NSS to bring about change in its nation. He recalled the struggle of the freedom fighters to bring about self rule. “Our freedom fighters have a dream for all Indian men and women and today we build on the dream of our forefather,” he said. He added that the challenge for all Indians to have the zeal of the spirit and carry the flag of peace and love. The participants prayed for those affected by flood in Kerala.

At the end of the flag hoisting programme, the Principal declared Don Bosco College Tura a Clean and Green Campus as part of the NSS programme of observing 15 days of Swatchta Pakhwada, the cleanliness awareness campaign.

Those present sang the National Anthem and a patriotic song.
