NSS Rally on Swachh Bharat

On the eve of culmination of the Swatchta Pakhwada, the cleanliness awareness campaign led by 200-odd NSS volunteers peaked with a rally around Tura town.  Holding banners and placards on the theme “Clean India, Happy and Healthy India”, the volunteers began the rally from Don Bosco College, Tura via Missionaries of Charity campus to Chandmari and back via the main road. The rally took nearly an hour and a half.

NSS Volunteers were heard shouting slogans in English, Hindi and Garo like, “no more plastic” and ‘plastic hatao duniya bachao’. Onlookers in crowded areas along the route were taken by surprise at the enthusiasm of the student community.  The volunteers were escorted by NSS Coordinator Suraj Pradhan, Jevilline A Sangma and helped by the local police.
