Annual College Week of Don Bosco College Tura begins

The College Week 2017 of Don Bosco College was inaugurated on 4th December 2017. The programme started with a Classical prayer dance by students and an invocation of God’s help through the reading from the Holy Scripture. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural Function, Shri Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commandant, 20th Battalion Border Security Force (BSF) expressed his happiness for having been invited as Chief Guest to a programme with a multitude of young people surging with energy. He also encouraged the students to do their best during the College Week competitions and also in their lives.

Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, Principal of the college, echoed the thoughts and sentiments of the Chief Guest and urged the students to utilize their talents to the full. The over-all message that vibrated through the Inaugural Function even as the college week cauldron emitted light and warmth was that students of the college are collectively like the mythological ‘cornucopia’ , but a cornucopia of talents which needs to be tapped and brought to the surface. In keeping with the motto of the college “In Pursuit of Excellence”, it is hoped that the annual college week competitions will go a long way in fulfilling the aspirations of the students to be the best that they can be.

The Inaugural Function had the choicest of singers and dancers performing, which are only a fore-shadow of the events of the wonderful week ahead. A peek at the college Week fixtures reveals exciting events  such as athletics, indoor and outdoor games, elocutions, debates, fashion parade, not to forget the A∙chik traditional games such as wa∙pong sika and an∙ding oka. It may be anticipated that these exciting events will give more opportunities to students to hone their skills and talents and also lure the ‘dark horse’ in them to manifest itself.
