Excursion cum Study Tour to Santiniketan and Kolkata

 

With the aim of making learning filled with joy, excitement and adventure, the Department of Philosophy, Don Bosco College, Tura organized an Excursion cum Study Tour to Santiniketan and Kolkata from 25th -31st Oct, 2017, along with 27 students of 5th Semester Philosophy.

Some of the highlights of the Excursion were visits to Santiniketan the cradle of Rabindranath Tagore, meeting the Head and other faculties of the Department of Philosophy and Comparative Religion, an Interaction session with Dr. Kalyan Kumar Bagchi (Prof. Emeritus, Dept. of Philosophy and Comparative Religion, Visva Bharati) in his residence, visits to Visva Bharati Museum, Deer park and some of the historical places in the campus.

A day was set aside to visit Kolkata where important places such as Science City, Mother House, Indian Museum, Victoria Memorial, Birla planetarium were covered.

It was new learning experience for most of the students as they had first experience of this sort, going out of the state and knowing the culture, traditions, values, ethos of others. Most of them expressed their satisfaction and urged that in future such kinds of events be taken up.
