ANNUAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION
The Department of English, spearheaded by Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, HOD, English, organized the Annual Intra – Departmental Elocution Competition on 20th September, 2018 in the Bosco Hall, Don Bosco College at 10.00 A.M. The competition was conducted for the students of English Honours of the College to promote English speaking skill. Dr.Barbara S. Sangma in her speech welcomed the Principal, Rev.Fr.Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, the Vice-Principal, Rev. Fr. Albert D Sangma, and the honourable judges, Dr.L K Gracy, Department of English, NEHU,Tura Campus, and Sister Mariola Sequeira, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Don Bosco College.The participants were judged on pronunciation, voice modulation and confidence level.There were altogether thirty-three participants from 1st Semester, 3rd Semester and 5th Semester.The audience, the judges were invited to give their feedback on the overall performance of the participants as well as on the importance of organizing elocution competition.The judges gave tips to the participants on how to speak eloquently in public and to take advantage of the internet facilities for this purpose.The Principal applauded the participants for speaking fluently and with clarity and encouraged all the students to participate again in the next elocution competition.
The results were declared at the end of the competition, and the Principal presented certificates to the winners who were selected from each semester.Balbara S. Marak was adjudged the winner,while Cherik Ch. Marak and Karimchi Ch. Marak bagged the second and third position respectively in the competition for 1st Semester.Wandisha M. Sangma was declared the winner of the competition for 3rd Semester, while Kasaan Chokchim M. Sangma and Silman Ch. Sangma secured the second and third position. Jessy T. Sangma was adjudged the winner from the 5th Semester, while Norombi M. Marak and Sindira S. Sangma secured the second position, and Rupam Sarkar secured the third position.The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jessy T. Sangma, 5th Semester English Honours student.
