Cadets are assessed on their marching skills, command, control, confidence, and overall turnout, including uniform, grooming, and equipment. The DST helps develop essential qualities like discipline, teamwork, leadership, and physical fitness, and is a crucial aspect of NCC training. After the test, a piping ceremony is held to award ranks to cadets based on their performance, recognizing their hard work and dedication.

The piping ceremony is a significant event in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) that takes place after the Drill Square Test (DST). During this ceremony, cadets are awarded ranks based on their performance in the DST. The ceremony is a formal recognition of the cadets' hard work, dedication, and achievements, and is a milestone in their NCC journey. The piping ceremony is a symbolic gesture, where cadets are "piped" into their new ranks, marking their progression and growth within the NCC.

The NCC Drill Square Test (DST) was held on April 4, 2025, at Don Bosco College, Tura. On that day, Senior Wings (SWs) from the 2nd year (7 cadets) and 3rd year (9 cadets) participated, while Senior Division (SDs) cadets from the 2nd year (10 cadets) and 3rd year (13 cadets) also took part. The function was graced by Fr John Paul Tirkey, Vice Principal of the college. In this test, cadets were judged based on their drill skills, including marching, command, control, confidence, and overall turnout. Following the test, a piping ceremony was held, where cadets were awarded ranks based on their performance. A total of 39 cadets participated, comprising 23 from the Senior Division and 16 from the Senior Wings.
