PANE lecture

Don Bosco College, Tura made a history of sorts by hosting the PANE (Physics Academy of North East) lecture on 1st September, 2018 in collaboration of Department of Physics and Alumni Association of Don Bosco College, Tura.  They delivered the lecture on ‘A Tale of Superconductivity:  the Indian Connection”

The illustrious speakers and world-renowned scientists from IIT Guwahati were Prof. Saurabh Basu, Vice-President of PANE and Prof. Bipul Bhuyan, General Secretary, PANE.  Other panelists from Department of Physics, Arya Vidyapeeth College, Guwahati were Dr. Piyush Kanti Dhar,  Publicity Secretary of PANE and Dr. Apurba Kumar Das.

Welcoming the guests. Dr. Arindham Ghosh, HOD, Department of Physics, Don Bosco College, Tura said he was indebted to them for making it happen at very short notice. Close on the heels of Don Bosco College Tura students making it to the University merit list in Chemistry this year, Dr. Ghosh said this is an incentive to the students of Physics to learn of opportunities of higher learning in Physics and scale newer heights.

Fr. Bivan R. Mukhim, the Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries with the traditional college scarf to each of them. The Principal also welcomed the faculty and students of Government College, Tura and members of the Alumni Association of Don Bosco College, Tura.

Prof. Bipul Bhuyan, General Secretary, PANE briefed the academic community present on the occasion on the activities of PANE.  Prof. Bhuyan enthused the students to make the north-east of India really count at the national and international level where research in Physics is concerned.  A newsletter of PANE was also released on the occasion.

The lecture series was followed by a robust interaction between the students, faculty and guest scientists.
