POSTER COMPETITION 20th OF FEBRUARY 2025
“Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice” The department of Sociology (DBCT) has conducted a Poster competition with the theme “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice” on the 20th of February 2025 at Amphitheatre (Gallery) Don Bosco College Tura from 11:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M for the students from different department. The event was organised by the department of sociology on the observance day of World Social Justice Day 20th of February. The programme started with the welcome address by Tengchuang T Sangma 6th Semester sociology honours student.
Opening remarks and introduction of the programme was given by Father Principal Januarius S Sangma. Father Principal highlighted and talk about Inclusion with regards to creating a society where everyone, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstance has equal access to opportunities and participation in society. Father Principal addressing the Inclusivity to the students by citing an example from our own Society.
Followed by the inaugural speech given by Dr Barbara S Sangma who share the thought about how to empower opportunity inclusively. Dr Barbara S Sangma highlighted the importance of Justice to the students by citing an example about sharing and imparting to everybody of what they deserved. The sense of sharing is that everybody should get of what they deserve, and everybody should get not only justice but also a sense of equity and basically according what we need and deserve is an important to imbibed the sense of Justice. Dr Barbara S Sangma also highlighted about Personal Justice and Personal sense of integrity with that we can go up with the world, are strong example of justice. Furthermore, to people who administer justice related to corruption, Dr Barbara S Sangma encouraged the students and give assure about being confident to bring about social justice. The aim of organizing a Poster competition was to honed and enhance their creative skills of the students and allow them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions through their art reflecting on the theme of Social Justice.
There were 12 students from different respective department (Sociology, Geography, Political Science, Zoology, Chemistry) who participated in this event with great enthusiasm. The winners of this competition were: 1. Nikita Sarkar - (BS 6 th Semester Chemistry) 1 st Position 2. Jimbera Jakra Ch Marak- (BS 2 nd Semester Zoology) 2 nd Position 3. Damrak Tering A Sangma - (BA 4 th Semester Political Science) 3rd Position
