World Earth Day Celebrated at Don Bosco College, Tura.

 

Don Bosco College in Tura commemorated World Earth Day on April 22nd, 2024, with a thought-provoking event organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Department of Geography. Themed "Planet vs Plastic," the program aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation, particularly focusing on the menace of plastic pollution.

 

The event commenced with an invocation by Kum Kum Jabirong T Sangma, creating a reflective atmosphere. Mr. Ksanbor Kharkongor, Head of the Department of Geography, welcomed the attendees and stressed the significance of the day in promoting positive environmental actions.

 

A highlight of the event was the impactful speech delivered by Fr Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, the Principal of Don Bosco College. Father Mukhim highlighted the urgent need for proactive measures to address the challenges posed by plastic pollution, urging everyone to take responsibility for preserving our planet.

 

Dr. Barbara S Sangma, the IQAC Coordinator, reinforced the importance of converting awareness into tangible actions to combat plastic pollution effectively.

 

The day also featured a captivating photography exhibition showcasing the beauty of the natural world, reminding everyone of the need to protect our environment. An open mic challenge provided students with a platform to share their views on environmental conservation, with a focus on addressing plastic pollution.

 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tesilchi N Sangma, expressing gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions to the event's success.

 

The World Earth Day celebrations at Don Bosco College not only raised awareness about the threats posed by plastic pollution but also emphasized the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental stewardship and promoting sustainable practices.
