Physics Honours organises field visit to All India Radio (AIR), Tura
The Department of Physics, Don Bosco College, Tura organized a field visit to the All India Radio (AIR) station at Dakopgre, Tura on the 3rd of September, 2019. The participants were the third and the fifth semester B.Sc. honours students of the Department of Physics of the college. The faculty who escorted the students was Prof. Mahidhar Rajbongshi, Dr. Arindam Ghosh, Prof. Gaurav Biswas and Dr. Yubaraj Sharma.
On reaching the AIR station, the students and faculty were greeted by Mr. Amit Kr. Ghosh (Program Executive, AIR, Tura), who cordially welcomed the students and gave an introductory speech. He then introduced Mr Amal Das (Engineering Assistant, AIR, Tura) who conducted a very exciting and interactive session with the students. Mr. Amal Das introduced the history and importance of radio stations in general and the Tura station in particular and discussed various theoretical and practical aspects of the working of a radio station. A tour of the various sections of the radio station was also conducted; the students visited Control Room, Music Studio and Talk Studio where the process of announcing, recording, editing, etc. was demonstrated by Mr. Amit Kr. Ghosh.
The field visit ended with a thankful appreciation of the resource persons from AIR by the students and the accompanying faculty which included felicitating them with college mementos.
