TALK ON INCLUSIVE GROWTH
The Department of Economics, Don Bosco College, Tura in association with The New Central Book Agency Pvt Ltd, Kolkata organized a talk by Prof. Sampat Mukherjee, author & retired Prof, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata on the topic “Inclusive Growth in India” on 29th April, 2019. The students of the Department of Economics and Commerce of Don Bosco College, Tura attended the programme. The talk was also attended by the faculties of different departments.
Fr. Bivan R.Mukhim, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura in his inaugural address emphasized on the importance of lectures by eminent scholars, adding that the college was indeed privileged to have Prof. Mukherjee in our midst.
Prof Siddhartha Roy, Department of Economics in his address highlighted the achievements of Prof. Mukherjee in the field of Economics and expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mayur Tanna of New Central Book Agency Pvt Ltd for planning this visit of Prof Sampat Mukherjee and for accompanying him.
In his deliberation Prof Mukherjee stated that the concept of inclusive growth emphasizes the need for economic reforms with stress on equitable development. It focuses on key interrelated elements of growth: agricultural prosperity, reduction in poverty, food security, empowerment of women, weak & marginalized, development of social infrastructure with stress on health & education and reduction of regional disparities. For achieving this, the role of the state is very important. The objective of growth should be achieved with a human face.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Salkam Leezar S.Momin from the Department of Economics.
