College Celebrated National Science Day – 2017 on 28th February


Don Bosco College, Tura celebrated National Science Day-2017 on 28thFeruary 2017 with rest part of the country in order to commemorate the invention of ‘RAMAN EFFECT’ by the Indian scientist, Sir ChandrasekharaVenkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928. For his great success in the field of science, SirChandrasekharaVenkata Raman was awarded and honoured with the Nobel Prize in the year 1930.National science day is celebrated as one of the main science festivals in Don Bosco College, Tura by the Science departments every year during which students demonstrates various science skills, talent demonstration, debates, quiz competitions, lectures, science models exhibitions and many more activities. This year’s events includes poster and extempore speech competition on the theme ‘Science and technology for specially abled person’ followed by science talk, movie show on science fiction. Dr. Madhusudhan Saha Convener of the programme, Dr. Biswajit Paul, Senior faculty member and Fr. (Dr.) George Plathottam, SDB Principal of the college spoke on the occasion and stressed the need of scientific temperament and urged the youth to use the talents and scientific skill for the betterment of the Society. The programme ended with prize distribution to the winners of different events. Finally vote of thanks proposed by Mr Tenang R Marak of Zoology Department.
